Elle and Gordon – Docklands and Botanical Gardens

With family from Queensland and country areas Elle and Gordon chose some centrally located Melbourne venues – Docklands for the preparations and reception and Royal Botanical Gardens for the ceremony.

The day started slowly when the lift to Elle’s apartment stopped mid floor with Julian the photographer and Elle’s only bridesmaid!! To cut a long story short – it all turned out OK.

The Ceremony was at the Melbourne Botanical Gardens and the weather and then garden after a little rain the day earlier looked just perfect. The Ceremony was near the Tecoma Pavilion – (entered from Anderson St Gate C ). After the ceremony we took a fun stroll through the garden to their transport -a classic car parked near wonderful Gate D. We did more location photography at the Anderson St bridge – just next to the Botanical Gardens – then off to the Docklands for more photography and then to the reception was a cruise around the bay.

Never mind the rain in morning, Heyam outshone the clouds and John’s love gave warmth and laughter. Where did she get that dress?

We photographed around the chapel at Monash Uni, at North Rd pier and at Docklands. Heyam and John celebrated with so much dancing at Luxor Receptions.

Wedding photography with a little Serendipity and a lot of weather.

Canberra wedding photography

Wedding have there ways as this day was. Camberra weather had been discussed for the week before and we certainly we got some weather – not that this was bad – it was good – for wedding photography BAD BAD weather is sometimes the BEST weather.

It all worked out very nicely. The sun shone with a springling of clouds for the ceremony and family pictures to create a warm and happy scene. The we drove to near by park where Denisa and Horatiu – well – dated. As we drove to a hill that over looked Canberra storm clouds threatened wonderfully…..Oh what gorgeous weather. The sun went in and out then in and out … giving us light accross the grass and trees and just as we lay down for a snuggle in the grass the clouds moved accross to give us some soft light….

The weather did not stop – we felt our first rain drop – and off we went to the cars – and as it happens on wedding days a little bit of serendipity plays a big part. As we arrive at our next location on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin the rain pattered to an end and the sun peaked out among the cloud for a glowing sunset…..

Our favourite photographs are the close up romantic ones, they are absolutely stunning! We hardly knew that they had been taken, you can see that we are completely lost in each other! Serendipity does such amazing photography, there is such a wide range of shots. Even though we had the odd traditional shot most of the photographs look very casual, just like we wanted.

Serendipity have given us a wonderful range of colours and different looks. We love the black and white photographs, black and white is used very appropriately, not just for the sake of it. Julian is such a good photographer, he is very very experienced and made us feel very comfortable. He really made the most of each setting on our day and helped us cope with the shocking weather. We are very happy to recommend Serendipity Photography for wonderful results!

Kylie and Nick wedding photography

When the couple were presented with the photos they were overjoyed. “The photos are amazing. They are so beautiful.” said Kylie. Nick commented on Julian’s enthusiasm and attention to detail: “The photos have brought out the very best in us.” When they were presented with their album Kylie and Nick were ecstatic: “You just want to keep looking at the photos over and over again. They are totally like action shots. The album has a very artistic approach. It’s more than just printing pictures on a page. The design is worked so well and really complements our expressions.”

“Our wedding album is amazing. Our photos very vividly captures us and our personalities”. Kylie and Nick had searched for subtle and personalised wedding photography, and chose Serendipity Image to capture “the unambiguous and undeniable texture of our real lives”. Wow, what a brief!. The shots of the couple relaxing, laughing and embracing speak for themselves. Julian comments, “To shoot a wedding like this is a professional privilege– working with such a wonderful couple allows the chance to gather many striking images as a testament to them.”

Kylie & Nicholas Wedding Photography

Corporate high flyers with a natural, down-to earth viewpoint, Nick and Kylie are a husband and wife team who enjoy stellar careers without losing sight of the most important thing, each other. The story of their meeting is typically low key and fun-loving of the couple. At an after work social function at Mahoney’s Irish Pub organised by a mutual friend, Kylie caught Nick’s eye. Hoping to meet her again, Nick asked the mutual friend to get them all together again, ‘Especially Kylie’. The friend took the hint and dumped the rest of them, organizing an intimate dinner for four, including Nick and Kylie. That was on the 3rd of October, and soon that date became remembered as their anniversary. A five year courtship followed, where they become best friends and eventually moved in together.

One night they were out at the same pub, celebrating the fact that they had just bought their first house together. During a discussion about renovating Nick casually proposed. Having gone through a long list of jobs, from plasterboard to cornices, Kylie asked if they had anything to discuss.

“How about getting married,” Nick laughed, before proceeding to argue about cornices again. The casual, smooth and understated elegance which was the key to their courtship, and engagement was to become the theme to the wedding. “If he had of proposed with a grand gesture like writing in the sky I would have turned him down,” laughed Kylie.

Kylie and Nicks’ brief to the photographer had been very simple – just shoot us as we are. The couple chose Serendipity because of the company’s excellent work and flair for design; they commented on the artistic quality and authenticity of the photography. There were several meetings in the lead up to the wedding to plan a coverage design that would reflect the strong

connection between Nick and Kylie, who are best friends as well as fiances.

Nick reflects on their wedding photography: “The album, both design and pictures captures our personalities at a deep level. We love out photos. We can really see the specialness of our day and how happy we were. I totally love our photos. We love looking through them and laughing with them, seeing our day unfold again. Julian made it very comfortable for us. He allowed us just to be ourselves. His approach to directing was very professional but quite casual. Instead of telling us what to do, it was as if he was painting a picture and that we flowed into the picture,” he said.

Serendipity Photography founders Sally and her partner Julian worked hard to capture the playful affection and love between Kylie and Nick and their relationships with family and friends. During the day Julian took over 1500 separate shots; each telling moment detailing a microcosm of the myriad feelings of the day. After the magic of the wedding itself, the Serendipity photography team set about editing a set of photos that fulfilled Nick and Kylie’s wish to capture their love in all its simple, elegant glory.

Tatiana and Micheal wedding photography

Our wedding album from Serendipity is just beautiful, it is an amazing album! I look like a model… the album is truly the best I have ever seen. None of our friends have got anything like this. The album truly expresses our retro theme and is just gorgeous from start to finish.

I just love the veil shots and the shots from the beach. Everyone really likes the smoky dark shots of the veil, Serendipity’s control of lighting is just fantastic. Julian was just sensational, really easy to be with and made us feel really comfortable.

Its hard to find words to describe our photography but some of the ones that come to mind are unique, romantic, dramatic… Our album is just amazing!

Kim & Andrew at Stones in the Yarra Valley

Madalina’s and Alex Wedding Photography

One of our favorite Melbourne wedding photography locations is the Flemington Court House in down the narrow side street. It is a American Romanesque building with a number of arches and steps allowing all sorts of photography possibilities. And across the road there looks to be the remains of a former Fire Station from the same period also. As serendipity has it, Melbourne weather gave us a spatter of rain and we left this Flemington for Flagstaff Gardens for sunset shots over the city.

Linda and Rick had a fun day out on a slightly cool and damp March afternoon for their location photography with a vintage theme.

First was the location photography at Fitzroy Town Hall and Collins St then on to party at Hawthorn Receptions.

Their traditional greek ceremony was at the beautiful and historic St Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Greek Church in east Melbourne which has beautiful decorative murals as seen below.

Chrissy and Chris – wet weather wedding

Melbourne is known to have four seasons in one day but on this day the weather was especially crazy – initially it was calm and sunny, then within 10 minutes there was a torrential downpour with the temperature dropping 20 degrees. This all would have been fine if the ceremony was in a church, but we were on a cliff top overlooking views of the Melbourne CBD. The groom waited in his shirt sleeves with his umbrella holding off a considerable amount of water for almost an hour. Amazingly the rain stopped just in time for the ceremony leaving a little room for some photographs of moments together before the it hit again. Despite the challenges the weather provided, we find that some of our best wedding photography comes from this sort of day.
