Julie and Nick celebrate: a Serendipity Photography appreciation

Serendipity Photography were thrilled to capture the wedding day celebrations of Julie and Nick, who were married on a beautiful Summer’s day in South Melbourne. Working with a high fashion theme, Julie and Nick planned their day as an elegant, memorable affair.  All the carefully planned details centred around Julie’s stunning contemporary gown. Lavished with French lace and crystals, the gown features a lavish train, comprised of over 150m of material.

Carefully chosen accessories like the parasol and the Lois Vuitton bag added to the sense of a stylish occasion.

Julie worked for months putting together an ensemble leaving with a powerful impact, shoes hair, accessories (so much bling) sparkling with contemporary style, a fashion diva on her day of days.

The message is clear, style, vision and planning all pay off — it all comes down to talent and care. Right down to the last exquisite detail, the result was a distinctly elegant celebration and a stunning selection of wedding day photography.

Julie and Nick held their traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony at the highly regarded St Eustathious Parish in Dorcas St, South Melbourne. The white stone exterior of this unique church contrasted boldly against the cloudless blue sky above, creating a backdrop reminiscent of the historic Greek islands. As Julie arrived at the church in a sleek limousine, the gorgeous array of features including grand trees, elegant architectural façade and intricate stained glass windows, provided a perfect setting for relaxed bridal portraits.

St Eustathious’ interior is spacious and abundant with ornate detailing; the high alter ensures a feeling of true sacredness in wedding ceremonies.

The church is aptly designed, as both intimate and grand ceremonies can be accommodated effortlessly. The couple carried out the traditional crowning ceremony surrounded by   charming entrance staircase, marvel underneath exquisite chandeliers and the high timber ceiling, you will be enchanted. St Eustathious Parish, located at 221 Dorcas St, South Melbourne is a popular choice of venue for Greek Orthodox wedding ceremonies. Have a look at our dedicated page on St Eustathious, and our interesting section on Greek traditions for more great photographs from Julie and Nick’s ceremony.

The newly wed couple made the most of the time between the formal ceremony and the reception celebrations, by visiting some of the excellent photographic locations around Melbourne. The old wordy glamour of Collins Street in Melbourne’s CBD was a fabulous choice. The striking contemporary lines of Julie’s gown — distinctive with its long train and contrasting close cropped front — harmonised perfectly with the high fashion boutiques such as Louis Vuitton.

After enjoying the modern surrounds of the city the bridal party ventured a little further afield to the iconic Brighton Beach. The deep blue of the sky overhead and the golden expanse of fine sand created an exquisite contrasting background for the wedding party. The bridal party’s attire seem to have been made for the striking beach backdrop, Julie’s white wedding gown and the pale green of the bridesmaid’s dress, along with the sharp suits of the groomsmen, created a harmonious suite of colour. Serendipity  appreciated capturing a diverse array of dramatic and elegant wedding day photographs at these exciting locations.

After the ceremony, celebrations continued at the Brighton Savoy. Recently winning the prestigious ‘Best Hotel Reception Venue 2011′ in the Australia Bridal Industry Awards, the Brighton Savoy’s combination of exceptional service, elegant interior design and enviable location makes us at Serendipity sure that the venues long lasting popularity is well deserved. This glamourous beach side location proved the perfect setting for Julie and Nick’s wedding day festivites. Just across the road from the Brighton Savoy is the magnificent Brighton Beach where the couple experienced one of the most glorious sunsets as it swept over the dunes. with light trailing across the water and waves catching the sun and creating a rosy glow.

The pair entertained their guests in the luxurious Gala Room, where details such as the elevated bridal table, polished timber dance floor, breathtaking glass chandelier and warm colour scheme of golds, browns and black created a decadent setting for the party. The night progressed with style and family centred festivities, special touches including the speeches and the ‘candy buffet’ (the delightful dessert experience, complete with a heartfelt poem written the the newly weds) made the celebrations truly memorable.

I chose a fashion theme for our day and really enjoyed putting together a glamourous event. The planning lasted 9 months, searching for just the right look for dress hair accessories and teaming that with creating the right atmosphere for a really stylish celebration.

I have a huge passion for fashion along with modern trends and innovations which formed the backbone of my wedding planning. I also wanted to share a unique way of celebrating my wedding which represented who me and may husband were. I also am not a believer in less is more!!!!!

One of my highlights from the day was the photography sessions. I allocated a significant amount of time for photos. Foti from Serendipity was fantastic and made the experience so much fun! I especially loved the on location shots at Louis Vuitton and Bvlgari. Here we could showcase a real fashion side to the wedding. The beach shoot was awesome. We had storm clouds rolling over the ocean which set the scene for some unbelievable shots! The album and work done post shoot by Sally and the team was spectacular. I now have the perfect photos and memories to keep forever from my special day.

    Julie and Nick
