Daniela and Lube celebrate with Serendipity Photography

Daniela and Lube’s wedding day was an event defined by true urban elegance mixed with traditonal threads. The inspiring harmonies of contemporary colour tones and historic architecture were the perfect complement to this wonderfully romantic occasion. Serendipity Photography enjoyed capturing the moments, and enhancing mood and the colours of Daniela and Lube’s stylish celebration.

The Ceremony

Daniela and Lube held their formal ceremony at the gorgeous St Petka in Mill Park. The elegant bluestone exterior of this Macedonian Church provided a beautiful backdrop as Daniela and her bridesmaids pulled up in a stylish vintage car. The interior of St Petka is truly breathtaking. Every detail — from the exquisite hand-painted iconography adorning the walls and curved ceiling, the touches of gold leaf highlighted by the overhead chandelier, to the grand timber pews, created a setting of rich visual decadence and harmony.

As the pair carried out traditional Macedonian customs including the crowning ceremony, the deep gold of the sacred crowns were complemented perfectly by the regal surrounds of the interior chapel. The gorgeous red and gold colour palate combined with the warm tones of St Petka’s was an inspiring backdrop for classic portraits of the bride and groom.

The newly weds visited a stunning selection of photographic locations during their day. The grand Italianate style architecture of the Victorian Railways Administration Bulding on Spencer Street, created a romantic (and uniquely historic) backdrop for intimate portraits of the pair. Now housing the Grand Hotel and boutique appartments, this building is one of Melbourne’s great treasures from the Victorian era, a fitting frame for Daniela and Lube’s wedding location photography. At Serendipity we love the way the light glints off the wrought iron fencing and the gentle play of leaves against the sculpted bulk of the building.

The Docklands also proved a gorgeous location. The striking architectural lines of the famous Webb Bridge, made a wonderfully unique backdrop for a selection of bridal party shots, as well as more intimate portraits of the newly married couple. The sprawling web-like form of the bridge’s sides and roof are reminiscent of the Art Deco period. And elegantly echoed the flowing lines of Daniela’s skirt; though in this case it’s a dress cast in steel rather than white silk!

As the sun set across the sky, the urban sophistication and subtle rustic charm of the Docklands provided a stunning transition into the final celebrations of the day — the atmosphere, dancing and delicious catering of the reception!

The Reception

Celebrations continued at Maia, one of the striking quartet of venues which comprises the Dockland’s newly opened Atlantic Group V. The unique architecture harmoniously combines modern and historic details, providing a glamorous setting for celebrations and wedding day photography. As the sun set the unique façade provided a dramatic backdrop for romantic portraits; the shipping crate-esque exterior and original doors nod to the shipping history of the Docklands. Inside, the venue is graced with impressive cathedral scale ceilings, a subtle colour scheme of beige, tan and black, custom made very modern chandeliers and a luxurious bridal suite.

The newly weds shared a beautiful first dance upon the hand etched wooden floor boards, before their guests joined them to dance the night away.

We very much like the mix of elegant shots and artistic images that Serendipity have given us in our album. The the shots at the Webb Bridge are beautiful with lovely shadows and vibrant colours. The mood of our day has been captured well with a lot of candid shots and spontaneous feelings. Thanks very much!
