Marie and Ian with Serendipity Photography

Serendipity Photography had the great privilege of capturing the wedding of Marie and Ian, on a beautiful Spring day in September last year.

The Ceremony

The couple held their ceremony at St Brigid’s Catholic Church in Nicholson Street, North Fitzroy. St Brigid’s is highly regarded within Melbourne for its rich history, welcoming multi-cultural focus and of course its striking architecture. This 1860’s chapel originally designed by T.A.Kelly in the Decorated Gothic Style, has definitely stood the test of time, with ceremonies held in 2011 (and 2012 and beyond!) providing a stunning setting for sacred vows and wedding day photography. The bluestone exterior of the church contrasted subtly against the delicate white beading of Marie’s wedding gown. The grand old trees running along the length of the street entrance, when paired with the flawless blue sky (with blessed Marie and Ian’s special day), made for romantic and beautiful wedding day photographs. The dappled light flowing through the leafy foliage bestowed a natural glow on the bride and groom, during outdoor portraits and vibrant family shots.

Inside the church, the high timber ceilings, exquisite stained glass windows, historic organ and raised alter provided a wonderful setting for the traditional Filipino Catholic wedding ceremony. Both the interior and exterior façade boast strong lines and striking architecture of St Brigid’s made the perfect setting for dramatic tones and classic wedding day photography on Marie and Ian’s special day. The Reception

Marie and Ian continued their celebrations with an elegant reception at Lakeside Reception Centre. This grand Taylors Lakes venue has long been a popular destination for newly married couples, at Serendipity we are hardly surprised, for every wedding we’ve had the good fortune of capturing at Lakeside has been a gorgeous feast for the senses. Marie and Ian’s celebrations were no exception; the unique colour palate of whites, ivories and caramels seemed to have been made for Marie’s dress! The exquisite French windows provided breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding grounds.

These are just some of the great advantages of Lakeside, they also have a variety of ornate decoration features that serve as unique backdrops for wedding day photographs, particularly the sumptuous foyer door and the sweeping staircase leading in the entrance foyer which struck a stunning complement against the bride and groom. The elegant décor, and classic banquet provided a mood of upmost sophistication„ which was lightened slightly when the bride, groom and guests made the most of the expansive dance floor! Marie and Ian took the opportunity between their ceremony and reception celebration to visit a gorgeous selection of alternative photographic locations. The Carlton Gardens (which is in close proximity to St Brigid’s Church) proved a picturesque choice. These 26 hectare gardens have been designed in 19th-century Gardenesque style. The result is a tranquil, well landscaped garden setting boasting parterre garden beds, sweeping avenues (which allowed Marie and Ian to enjoy a romantic stroll) grand clusters of trees boasting leafy foliage, two ornamental lakes and three expertly sculpted fountains.
