Kimberley Gardens

Nestled in the heart of vibrant beach side suburb of St Kilda, at 441 Inkerman Street, sits the beautiful reception centre: Kimberley Gardens. Serendipity have had the pleasure of capturing many weddings at this unique venue and we appreciate its rare combination as a setting for both outdoor ceremonies and elegant indoor celebrations. As well as the gorgeous landscaped gardens which surround the main building, Kimberley Gardens boasts ample parking (a definite plus for guests!) and is in close proximity to Melbourne’s CBD and numerous photographic landmarks around St Kilda and beyond.

The dining experience at Kimberley Gardens is one of the draw cards of the venue. This location which has become synonymous with traditional Jewish weddings and Russian Jewish ceremonies, offers a full Glatt Kosher menu, which can be tailor made to suit your specific wedding style. To view the full list of classic and modern menu plans simply follow the link here to Kimberley Garden’s main website. A rave review on the homepage quotes: ” the renowned kosher kitchen can produce meals ranging from traditional Kosher to contemporary Sushi. Where friendly staff are always ready to make your next special event a huge success.”

The 2 acres of landscaped grounds which surround the main building, provide a picturesque setting for traditional garden ceremonies. The grand trees, lush greenery and expansive lawns of this well manicured garden become beautiful details for formal events held alfresco. For more photos featuring this stunning panoramic backdrop, have a look at Serendipity’s post on Gila and Alex’s wedding, who performed the traditional Chuppah in the gardens.

For couples who wish to continue their wedding day celebrations by holding their sit down reception indoors at Kimberley Gardens– you’ve made an excellent decision– the only problem will be choosing from the selection of beautiful function rooms! If your wedding is destined to be a grand scaled affair then the Kimberley Ballroom could be the perfect match. This expansive and elegant room seats 275 guests for a meal, and up to 350 for a standing cocktail event. For more intimate festivities why not try the Garden Room or the aptly named Panorama Room? Both feature: delicate glass chandeliers, high ceilings, huge dance floor, carved wall and ceiling decorations, as well as magnificent floor to ceiling windows offering breathtaking views of the surrounding garden. Both rooms are versatile enough to accommodate specific detailing such as table decorations, the capable staff at Kimberley Gardens are more than happy to cater to your individual wedding theme. The interior design provides a stunning backdrop for wedding day photographs, making the celebrations a truly memorable experience both on the day and in the personalised album which Serendipity professionally and passionately deliver.

Whilst Kimberley Gardens can be utilised as all-inclusive venue; offering a variety of picturesque ceremony settings, function rooms, restaurant and bar for wedding receptions and onsite accommodation (ranging from deluxe spa and executive suites to 3 bedroom apartments) what a heavenly treat! Many couples choose to extend the picturesque quality of their day by visiting some gorgeous photographic locations during the day. Kerford Road Pier proves to be a highlight. The vibrant blue skies extends panoramically around the couple, contrasting superbly with the rustic timber of the pier and the golden tones of the shore. The elegant architectural exterior of the South Melbourne Town Hall is another popular destination. The subtle tints of the sandstone beautifully complemented  Gila’s gown. The architectural harmony of the building is clear in the subtle dialogue between the large Corinthian portico of the symmetrical Bank street façade, and the well resolved northern elevation. The architecture also has strong reference to the French Second Empire Style, which was popular through the mid 1800s, when many of Melbourne’s official buildings were being constructed from sandstone, perfect for creating monumental backdrop, which are reminiscent of Italianate and Gothic Revival style.

Kimberley Gardens close proximity to an array of other locations such as St Kilda Pier, Albert Park Lake and the Royal Botanic Gardensmake this venue the perfect setting for a beautiful variety of wedding day photography.

Kimberley Gardens are well organised, with very good service. We liked the cocktail party, and the fact that you could do the ceremony and reception in one venue. The food was very tasty with large portions, I really liked the trio of desserts. Very happy to recommend Kimberley Gardens!
