Sovereign Receptions

Melbourne is home to a fantastic selection of wedding reception locations, one such venue is the highly regarded Sovereign in Northcote, which has long been a favourite destination for many styles of wedding day celebrations. At 302 St Georges Road; a mere 20 minute car ride from the CBD, Sovereign is a desirable location for sophisticated urban wedding receptions. Harmoniously combining striking modern architectural features, elegant interior design, professional and warm service and very importantly a commitment to excellent catering! it’s easy to see why this reception centre is so well loved by newly weds and photographers alike. Serendipity Photography have had the pleasure of capturing a beautiful variety of weddings at Sovereign and we are always impressed by its well designed interior and luxurious modern décor.

The grand street façade of Sovereign provides a striking backdrop for wedding day photography. The soft colour palate of warm taupe and touches of vibrant orange is distinctly complemented by the lush green foliage which frames the street — perfect for large bridal party and family shots before the reception gets under way! Inside, the feeling of modern sophistication continues as guests step into impressive (and aptly named) Grand Foyer. The classical ceilings soar at 6 metres, creating a light and open space to highlight the beautiful bridal gown.

Reception functions are held in the Ballroom, amidst a setting of exceptional luxury and modern style. The light and subtle colours of the walls and soaring ceilings fill the space with a bright and open ambience. The interior décor is beautifully suited to wedding celebrations of modern sophistication; details such as the exquisite hanging lights, charming open fire place, large polished timber dance floor, crystal candelabra, velvet furnishings and extensive marble bar, set off the inherent luxury and contemporary style in the venue. The private bridal suite is perfect for those last minute preparations before the newly weds make their entrance, and spacious enough to accomodate all your bridesmaids! As the sunsets across the sky, the alfresco courtyard is a beautiful setting to enjoy a moment of peaceful contemplation. The  garden walls and Japanese style stone water feature provides a unique backdrop for intimate portraits of the bride and groom.

Since it opened in 1956, Sovereign continues to meet and surpass expectations by offering newly weds and their guests a subtle and elegant location for wedding day celebrations. Sovereign combines elegant architecture and great service with an unique atmosphere. This well located venue offers an abundance of wedding day photographic opportunities, ensuring your wedding day event will be truly memorable!
